TURIA
Flood monitoring with radar satellite imagery, GIS and AI agents. A Horizon Europe pilot in Valencia and Almussafes (Technology for Unified Radar Intelligence and Agent-based flood monitoring).
A project within

SENSORBITE is one of the eight winners of the first open call of COP-PILOT, a project funded by Horizon Europe. The call received 369 proposals, of which 146 from 27 countries advanced to expert evaluation. The TURIA project receives €200,000 in funding.
TURIA responds to the October 2024 floods, which claimed more than 200 lives in the Valencia region. The system combines Earth-observation satellite data, digital maps and other spatial data. Radar imagery makes observation possible at night and through cloud cover.
Users will be able to ask questions in natural language, and the system will produce analyses and maps that support hazard assessment and information sharing between agencies. The solution will be developed in an eight-month programme together with research centres and future users, and then tested in a demonstration environment in the Valencia and Almussafes area.
In October 2026, during VDS 2026 in Valencia, we met project partners and representatives of Ajuntament d’Almussafes to discuss using the solution for flood-risk monitoring and crisis management support.
